One of John Carpenter's favorite films was 1951's The Thing From Another World. His affection for the film is evidenced by its appearance in his breakout 1978 horror classic Halloween. It's Halloween night and characters are watching The Thing From Another World on television. The original film was based on the 1938 novella 'Who Goes There?' by John W. Campbell. Carpenter decided to remake the film wanting it to be a more faithful adaptation to the novella. Carpenter has said, "One of my favouri
