This is because Surepost is only supposed to be touched by USPS for the last mile delivery, which means UPS drops it off at the delivery office before it gets delivered to the address on the package. They only get paid a small amount from UPS to deliver for them. UPS is supposed to do the majority of the transportation of that package.

Every single time something is shipped to me via SurePost, once UPS hands it off to USPS for delivery, it gets stuck in forwarding hell. Nov 28, 2020 · Surepost is shipper release, the shipper can’t even file a claim. Doesn’t matter if UPS or USPS delivers it. If something goes awry the shipper has to take care of it for you with either a replacement or a refund.

I order a lot of things online and almost never have a problem when they're shipped 2nd day air, next day air, or UPS ground; but for whatever reason, UPS SurePost packages just don't show up on my door even though I get notifications that they're delivered.
