Jul 1, 2024 · Cards and mechanics teased for Duskmourn With this post, I want to list everything that was mentioned during the latest MagicCon preview panel but wasn't actually shown, and to try and speculate on what was teased.

Aug 6, 2023 · If I were to guess, Duskmourn is prob similar in nature to the original Phyrexia. The plane itself could be sentient (all planes have some form of worldsoul if I'm not mistaken) somewhat like Zendikar, but my theory is that like Phyrexia, Duskmourn was created by a planeswalker. Possibly not a very nice one.

Like in Duskmourn: House of Horror, our current plan is for sets to feature 10 Japan Showcase cards, available in both treatments. The exact cards selected for Japan Showcase will vary by set, but our aim is to pick cards that are exciting to own, are good representations of a set's theme, and work well with the intended art style.

Mar 16, 2024 · Duskmourn is probably the most visually interesting set in this year's MTG schedule, considering it comes after detective hats, cowboy hats, and cutesy talking animals. But there's still a lot we don't know about it.

Jun 27, 2024 · It's been brought up a few times in other posts/threads, and most of time there's a response of shock at such a short gap between Bloomburrow and Duskmourn, and then a long gap after Duskmourn. It's still a bit surprising -- my best guess is that WotC wanted the horror set to be available for the entire month of October.

When MTG moved away from blocks (Theros, Born of the Gods, Journey into Nyx), we started getting stretches of sets with similar mechanics in order to fill that mechanical need. For example, Zendikar Rising, Kaldheim, and Strixhaven all had double-sided cards.

So, the Bloomburrow/Duskmourn gap isn't the shortest we've seen in the past few years. However, it's going to be a pretty long dry spell between Duskmourn and the next standard set if the releases for next year follow the same-ish timeline as the past few years with Innistrad Remastered being in January and, I think, the Death Race set probably ...
