Jun 20, 2018 · If you do both in 1 day ; buy a Peak Pass Head up to Klein Matterhorn in the morning, then on the way down get off at Furi ; not Zermatt and take the Riffelberg Express (is a small cable car) from Furi to Riffelalp ; then the train from Riffelalp to the top of Gornergrat From top of Gornergrat you can take the train all the way down to Zermatt or do the walk I mentioned as part of the way down.

Jan 10, 2017 · The answer may depend on where your hotel is. Gornergrat train starts at the near end of the village, closest to the train. The Klein Matterhorn lift is at the far end, so you walk the length of the village to get there, as I recall. I received an email back from the cable car operators in Breuil-Cervina that the return trip from Zermatt was around 2:30 pm. Lessons from visits to Lauterbrunnen and San Moritz is to head up the mountains early if you want to see the peaks and not just clouds, so an early start would be easy.
Need advice for skiing easiest runs in Zermatt and St. Moritz
Jan 18, 2025 · The two Furggsattel runs are very, very wide so the steeper gradient at the top is forgiving, and the run down from Klein Matterhorn is not too challenging either; the steeper pitches are very wide - don't take a wrong turn to Italy, though. If you want a skiing route for the day, you can combine all three in the order I listed them.

Switzerland in September - Zermatt/Matterhorn - Rick Steves
Mar 25, 2016 · I do like the mountains in the Mattertal and have spent my time on the side of the Matterhorn (OK, the Hirli) in a small, aluminum 'tent' with winds and snow howling outside and a 5-year old inside with me and my wife. :) That being said, I have seen mountains just as pretty in many other places in Switzerland.
