The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for Tamil Nadu on the 17th and 18th due to the possibility of a new low-pressure area forming in the Bay of Bengal Over the past few years, Tamil Nadu has experienced above-average rainfall during the northeast monsoon season.

The RMC also predicted rain at isolated places in Tiruvallur, Chennai, Chengalpattu, Kancheepuram, Tiruvannamalai, Kallakurichi, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, and Tiruvarur districts.

The IMD predicts dense fog in late night/early morning in Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab, and Uttar Pradesh until December 17. Due to fog, the visibility may go down to less than 50 metres

The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) has issued an orange alert for Tenkasi, Thoothukudi, and Tirunelveli districts of Tamil Nadu for Saturday. A yellow alert has also been issued for 11 other districts in the state.
