Stanley recalled 2.6 million mugs sold in the United States due to a defect in the lids. In a statement from Stanley, the company said it was “voluntarily” recalling the 12-ounce and 16-ounce Switchback and 12-ounce, 16-ounce and 20-ounce Trigger Action Travel Mugs “in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.”

More than 2 million Stanley mugs are being recalled after dozens of consumers reported suffering burns related to a lid malfunction. Here is a list of Stanleys you can buy that are safe.

“Stanley has received 91 reports worldwide, including 16 in the U.S., of the recalled travel mugs’ lids detaching during use, resulting in 38 burn injuries worldwide, including two burn injuries in the U.S., with 11 consumers worldwide requiring medical attention.”

The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission announced Dec. 12 a recall pertaining to 2.6 million Stanley Switchback and Trigger Action Travel Mugs because of potential burn hazards. As the recall notice states, "These mug's lid threads can shrink when exposed to heat and torque, causing the lid to detach during use, posing a burn hazard."

Stanley is recalling approximately 2.6 million of its switchback and trigger action stainless steel travel mugs sold in the U.S. because of a potential burn hazard.

The recalled Stanley Switchback and Trigger Action stainless steel travel mugs were sold at Amazon, Walmart, Target and more.

Stanley, which also makes trendy tumblers that are wildly popular on social media, urged consumers to contact them for replacement lids.
