Two children died and their mother was severely burned when a fire swept through a Palm Bay condo early Friday, trapping the family, police said.

PALM BAY, Fla. — Palm Bay Fire Rescue was called to the Country Gardens condos at about 12:40 am. A 15-year-old had already escaped a second-floor unit, but others were trapped inside.

Fire officials in Palm Bay say an early morning fire on the city's northeast side claimed the lives of a 5-year-old and 10-year-old Friday, with the blaze leaving the children's mother, 32, severely burned.
