A man who was allegedly threatening people with a machete in Portland’s Old Town neighborhood was arrested Wednesday night after a four-hour standoff, police say.

After an hours-long police response near Old Town, officers arrested a man at an apartment complex they said threatened people with a machete.

Portland police have called the Special Emergency Reaction Team and Crisis Negotiation Team to the 600 block of Northwest Naito Parkway, just north of the Steel Bridge. The parkway is closed to all traffic, and several sidewalks and pathways are blocked.
