Footage of two New York City police officers opening fire at a subway station as they confronted a man holding a knife shows they shot at him as he was standing still, his arms by his side and his back to a train.

The New York Police Department released body camera footage of a subway shooting that has roiled the city in recent days. The edited video released on Friday partly corroborates the department’s justification for the shooting, which injured two bystanders and a police officer as well as suspect Derrell Mickles.
