Minimum wage increases will take effect on New Year’s Day in 48 cities and counties in the U.S. as jurisdictions across the country raise pay floors for workers who dealt with rising post-pandemic prices.

While 23 states are raising their minimum wage rates in 2025, Oklahoma still has another year and a half to decide whether to join the movement.

On Jan. 1, 2025, New York’s minimum wage will increase to $16.50 an hour in New York City and Westchester, Nassau and Suffolk counties and to $15.50 an hour in all other parts of the state, according to the state Labor Department.
