Singer Max George is opening up about a health issue that he says will keep him in the hospital through the holidays.

Max George was admitted to hospital earlier in December, but has now updated fans to say he has been diagnosed with a "2:1 block" and needs an operation on his heart "way quicker than the doctors first thought".

Max George said he will be undergoing heart surgery "way quicker than the doctors first thought". The Wanted singer said he had been diagnosed with a "2:1 block in my heart", a condition where the heart beats more slowly or with an abnormal rhythm,

"Although this is a huge shock and no doubt a set back, it's something I'll take on with all I've got!" the musician told fans on Instagram.

Max George will spend Christmas in the hospital and will undergo surgery after doctors discovered issues with his heart. The singer, 36, who rose to fame as part of the boy band The Wanted and later helped revamp the group as the duo The Wanted 2.0 with fellow original member Siva Kaneswaran, posted a candid update on his health on Instagram.
