On the Raw after WrestleMania 40, Rhodes and The Rock faced off in a scintillating promo exchange that strongly hinted at a future match between the two. With Rock currently off the board for Mania, a battle with Cena is probably the next biggest match for the American Nightmare.

According to Fightful Select, the plan to have Rhodes take on Cena at WrestleMania 41 has not only been the working plan for the past few weeks, but that the idea to have the two men face each other on the grandest stage has been in place as far back as mid-November.

According to a new report from WrestleVotes Radio, Paul does not seem to be a contender to face Cena at the Showcase of the Immortals. They reported the match has been “discussed,” but there has been “resounding disapproval from several within creative” regarding it.
