Democrat George Whitesides wins election to U.S. House in California's 27th Congressional District, beating incumbent Mike Garcia

Garcia won his first House race in a special election in 2020 after the seat was vacated by Rep. Katie Hill, a Democrat. He beat then-Assemblymember Christy Smith, a Democrat, in the spring 2020 race, and then he defeated her again in two subsequent races.

George Whitesides ’96 won his election to the House of Representatives for California’s 27th District. His win flips the seat to the Democrats in a close race for the House majority.
