Key stock indices Sensex and Nifty ended lower on Monday as investors exercised caution before the US Fed interest rate decision amidst weak global indicators.

IndusInd Bank, PowerGrid, Bajaj Finance, and Maruti emerged as the only gainers on the Sensex. On the other hand, Titan, JSW Steel, UltraTech Cement, Adani Ports, and Tech M stood among the laggards

Indian equity markets opened in the red on Monday as BSE Sensex dipped over 150 points, trading below 82,000, while Nifty50 slipped under 24,750. Investors await key global and domestic cues, including the Fed rate decision.

The S&P BSE Sensex was down by 348.55 points to close at 81,748.57, while the NSE Nifty50 lost 100.05 points to end at 24,668.25.

BSE Sensex and Nifty50 bounced back more than 2 percent from the day's low amid ease in retail inflation and three-month high industrial growth at 3.5 percent in October. At close, the Sensex was up 843.16 points or 1.04 percent at 82,133.12, and the Nifty was up 219.60 points or 0.89 percent at 24,768.30.

The trends on Gift Nifty also indicate a weak start for the Indian benchmark index. The Gift Nifty was trading around 24,775 level, a discount of nearly 50 points from the Nifty futures’ previous close.

The S&P BSE Sensex was down 279.70 points to 81,853.42, while the NSE Nifty50 lost 74 points to 24,694.30. Benchmark stock market indices opened lower on Monday, dragged by a decline in IT stocks after having witnessed a very volatile session on Friday when it recovered after having lost nearly 1,200 points.

Indian benchmark indices Nifty 50 and Sensex ended the previous trade session in the green. Nifty 50 closed at 24,768.30, while Sensex ended at 82,133.12. Most Asian equities were trading in a tight range in early trade today.
