The Army West Point Black Knights men’s basketball enters this week coming off a 15-point loss to George Washington.

From 1999 to 2015, Navy flat-out dominated Army winning all but one game. That stretch of wins help put the Midshipmen ahead of the Black Knights in the all-time head-to-head matchup, which currently favors Navy at 62-55-7.

For the first time since the inaugural Independence Bowl in 1976 a pair of outright conference champions will do battle in the city of Shreveport. No. 22 Army (11-1) was just one more win away from being in contention for the College Football Playoff.

This season netted the Army Black Knights the program's fifth top-25 finish in the College Football Playoff rankings.

By game’s end, the Independence Bowl found a replacement, and the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs will make the short drive from Ruston, La., to Shreveport to face the Black Knights on
