Brittney Griner is keeping her promise of not competing overseas with the new Unrivaled league that runs during the WNBA's offseason.

Griner, who had been playing for Russian powerhouse UMMC Ekaterinburg, returned to the U.S. in December 2022 via a prisoner swap orchestrated by President Joe Biden’s administration. She rejoined the WNBA in 2023 and took the months between that season and the 2024 campaign to be away from the game.
