Indian authorities are investigating the work environment at Ernst & Young after the death of a 26-year-old employee whose mother said she was overworked.

The matter came into light after mother of deceased employee, Anita Augustine wrote to EY India Chairman, Rajiv Memani about her daughter’s death due to ‘work stress’.

Issuing a statement on the alleged death of a 26-year-old employee because of 'overwork', Ernst & Young (EY) India Chairman Rajiv Memani has said the fact that no one from the company attended the funeral is alien to their culture.

Ernst & Young (EY) has expressed deep sorrow following allegations that 26-year-old Anna Sebastian, who passed away in July 2024, died due to extreme work pressure. The consulting firm issued a statement offering condolences to the family and pledged to improve the work environment for its employees.
