ByteDance now has to show that it’s making significant progress on a deal to sell TikTok to a US-based company.

President Donald Trump signed an executive order to further delay the TikTok ban in the U.S. In a statement shared hours after he was sworn in on Monday, Jan. 20, Trump announced he was giving TikTok 75 more days before a law banning the social media platform in the U.S. would take effect.

The income president said he will “most likely give TikTok a 90-day extension called for in a law upheld by the Supreme Court yesterday to see it sold or banned by a deadline tomorrow. In a phone interview with Meet the Press moderator Kristen Welker of NBC News,

President-elect Trump said Saturday that he'll "most likely" give TikTok a 90-day reprieve from its mandated shutdown when he takes office so its parent company can work out a deal for the platform. The Supreme Court on Friday upheld the law requiring ByteDance to sell TikTok or take it down in the US.
