There was apparently a real push to get Resistance 4 made by the folks at Insomniac Games, but unfortunately the game never received the green light. Insomniac Games founder and outgoing president Ted Price is sitting down for interviews now that it’s been announced he’s retiring after 30 years at the helm of the studio.

The Resistance games were never among Sony’s most popular franchises but they still have a special place in some players’ hearts, especially those who remained ride-or-die through the tough early days of the PlayStation 3.

It's been over 14 years since developer Insomniac Games' fondly remembered alternate history shooter series drew to a close with Resistance 3, but it turns out fans might have seen a fourth mainline entry if the studio had got its way.

The future president of Insomniac Games revealed that PlayStation turned down their pitch for a fourth Resistance game.
