Police this week arrested a Wilmington man on a gun charge related to a shooting at a Newark motel four years ago.

The shooting happened around 5:30 p.m. on the 100 block of Osborne Terrace. The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office says that an 8-year-old boy died and an adult male was injured.

A man wounded by gunfire was found several blocks from where the child was killed around the same time, but officials declined to say whether the shootings were related.
