A communal sound-bath, meditation, massages, restful movement to release tension — these activities were all part of the Los Angeles LGBT Center’s annual Black History Month celebration on Sunday, Feb.

Morris says the family-free day allows families to engage in Black History Month. The day kicked off at 11 a.m. with a program featuring a guided gallery experience and hands-on crafts. One father, Sean Winters, says their family’s visit to the museum was insightful.

February is Black History Month, set aside to honor the history of African-Americans. February was chosen to also honor abolitionist Frederick Douglass and President Abraham Lincoln, whose birthdays are this month.
