MINNEAPOLIS, MINN. – University of Minnesota infectious disease expert Doctor Michael Osterholm does not support President Trump’s plan to withdraw the U-S from the World Health Organization. Osterholm says, “From a global public health perspective and specifically our health here in the United States, this is a public health disaster.”

The University of Minnesota is asking for $235 million from state taxpayers for the 2025-26 school year as part of its $5 billion budget.

Rep. Marion Rarick (R - Maple Lake) told 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS she has asked for “top-to-bottom” revenue and spending data for the entire University of Minnesota system.

The University of Minnesota is hosting its 44th Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Tribute Concert, featuring live performances and free admission.

The University of Minnesota cheer squad also took home a national championship, the team’s first in its history. Cheerleading squads actually originated at the University of Minnesota in 1898. And the team still uses that original chant: “Ski-U-Mah!”
