The final US LBM Coaches Poll was released on Tuesday, one day after Ohio State took home the College Football Playoff national championship. And, to nobody’s surprise, the Buckeyes finished atop the rankings, their first time appearing at No. 1 in the poll all year.

Malzahn had the Tigers ranked higher than any other coach in the final US LBM Coaches Poll released on Tuesday. But he left to become the offensive coordinator at Florida State, ensuring his time as a coaches poll voter will end. The voting panel is a rotating group of FBS coaches. Memphis finished ranked No. 23 in the poll.

Ohio State leads the coaches’ final top 25. It is followed by No. 2 Notre Dame, No. 3 Texas, No. 4 Oregon and No. 5 Penn State. Four of those five top teams were college playoff semifinalists. Oregon, which fell in the quarterfinal to Ohio State, boasted the year’s best regular-season resume.
