The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for Tamil Nadu on the 17th and 18th due to the possibility of a new low-pressure area forming in the Bay of Bengal Over the past few years, Tamil Nadu has experienced above-average rainfall during the northeast monsoon season.

The RMC also predicted rain at isolated places in Tiruvallur, Chennai, Chengalpattu, Kancheepuram, Tiruvannamalai, Kallakurichi, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, and Tiruvarur districts.

The IMD predicts dense fog in late night/early morning in Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab, and Uttar Pradesh until December 17. Due to fog, the visibility may go down to less than 50 metres

According to the update, squally weather with wind speed 35 kmph to 45 kmph gusting to 55 kmph is likely to prevail along and off South Tamil Nadu coast.

Tamil Nadu faces heavy rain warnings as cyclonic conditions develop over the Bay of Bengal. The IMD predicts intensified rainfall across various districts, leading to potential waterlogging and disruptions.
