Canada Post said operations will resume at the national postal service on Tuesday after the nearly monthlong work stoppage

BBC News reports the move, announced December 13, is an attempt to end a nearly month-long strike by some 55,000 postal workers that began November 15, over pay and working conditions.

As the nationwide postal strike hit the four-week mark Friday, federal Labour Minister Steven MacKinnon announced he's sending the labour dispute between Canada Post and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) to the Canada Industrial Relations Board.

Canada postal workers have now been on strike, walking the picket line for a month. As Megan King reports, a decision by the CIRB will determine whether they will be ordered back to work — which could happen as soon as Monday.
