Farmers in Punjab have called for a "Rail Roko" protest on December 18 after their failed attempts to enter Delhi. The police had stopped the farmers' march into the national capital thrice—on December 6, 8, and 14. During the last attempt, law enforcement agencies used tear gas and water cannons, injuring 17 farmers.

Several Haryana leaders, including Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) secretary-general and former Leader of Opposition Abhay Singh Chautala visited Dallewal at the Khanauri border on Monday, accompanied by INLD state president Rampal Majra and Dabwali MLA Aditya Devilal.

Extending support to the protesting farmers at Shambhu border in Punjab, members of Samyukt Kisan Morcha (a non-political entity) of Madurai zone staged a protest outside railway junction here on Monday.

Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher announced on Tuesday (10 December) that the protesting Punjab farmers would resume their foot march to Delhi on 14 December, citing the lack of communication from the Central government to initiate dialogue, reported Hindustan Times.

The announcement came hours after a 'Jathha' of 101 farmers, blocked by the police at the Shambhu border due to security concerns, was withdrawn for the day.
