Recorded in Nigeria in 1973, Paul McCartney had decamped to Laos for the sessions of what would become the Wings album Band on the Run. His arrival was greeted with fury by Afrobeat legend Fela Kuti, who accused McCartney of coming to Africa to steal black music.

Previously unseen pictues have today been released of Sir Paul and his band, who have been together 22 years, in rehearsals for the shows. It will see the star end the year with the four homecoming gigs, his first UK dates proper since 2018 (Glastonbury headlining performance aside in 2022).
