Two children and their mother have died after a fire broke out early Friday morning at the Country Gardens Condos in Palm Bay, authorities said.

Two children died and their mother was severely burned when a fire swept through a Palm Bay condo early Friday, trapping the family, police said.

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — Two children were killed and their mother was injured in an overnight fire on Friday at a Palm Bay apartment building, according to Palm Bay Fire Rescue. Officials say the fire broke out around 12:40 a.m. with four people inside the second-floor Country Gardens Apartment on Sunny Brook Lane.

A fast-moving fire swept through a Palm Bay condominium early Friday, gutting the residence with several people possibly trapped inside, police said. It was not immediately known if there any injuries resulting from the fire. The state fire marshal was also called in to investigate the cause of the blaze, police said.

Palm Bay fire officials say four family members were inside the condo unit when the fire broke out, including a 15 year-old-boy who called 911 for help.
