The New England Patriots wasted little time and hired their former player as their head coach, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter: Homecoming: Mike Vrabel and the Patriots reached a multi-year agreement to make him New England’s next head coach, per sources.

A coaching journey he needed to take, and the former star linebacker uniquely suited to put a faltering franchise back on track.

Ryan has been campaigning for the Jets’ head coaching job since the team fired after Week 5. Most recently, he told Rick DiPietro and Dave Rothenberg that he “absolutely” will get the job because he’s “the best guy” on their morning show on ESPN New York.
