The MCU isn't done with the Multiverse just yet. After Kevin Feige announced Robert Downey Jr. would star as Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday at San Diego Comic Con , it looked like we'd see another OG Avenger in the movie: Chris Evans.

Avengers: Doomsday is set to be one of Marvel Studios' biggest-ever movies when it releases in 2026, and fans' expectations are certainly high. Any time the Avengers tag is slapped onto a film, audiences expect the biggest names possible, and there have been plenty attached to Avengers: Doomsday so far.

Avengers, disassemble. Chris Evans, who played Captain America for nearly a decade in the MCU, is not returning to Marvel for the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday. At least that’s what he told Esquire in a profile of his former co-star, Anthony Mackie.
