HBO/Max led the night with six wins, led by the “Hacks” honors, as well as with “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver,” “The Great Lillian Hall” and “Nikki Glaser: Someday You’ll Die.” FX/Hulu was next, with three wins, all for “Shōgun.”

The Writers Guild of America, West ceremony took place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills and was hosted by Joel Kim Booster, while the WGA, East ceremony took place at the Edison Ballroom in New York City and was hosted by Roy Wood Jr.

Sean Baker’s Anora, written by Baker, and Nickel Boys, written by RaMell Ross and Joslyn Barnes, took the top film prizes at the 77th annual Writers Guild Awards tonight, for Original Screenplay and Adapted Screenplay,

The Writers Guild Awards are underway in both Los Angeles and New York, as the WGA recognizes the best of 2024’s writing in television and film. This year’s annual event bicoastal event is being at the Beverly Hilton for the West Coast edition and at New York’s Edison Ballroom for the East Coast ceremony.

The British Academy Film Awards, otherwise known as the BAFTAs is the penultimate awards ceremony before the Oscars next month. “Doctor Who” actor David Tennant hosted the 78th BAFTA awards at the Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall.
