Intel’s plans to build two chip factories in New Albany, Ohio for an investment of more than $28 billion have been postponed. One of the plants was planned to be operable in 2025, according to The Wall Street Journal. The new timelines are:

Intel's promised $28 billion chip fabrication plants in Ohio are facing further delays, with the first factory in New Albany expected to not be completed until 2030, local media outlet The Columbus Dispatch reported on Friday.

Intel originally said it expected to begin production at the New Albany, Ohio, site in 2025, and later pushed that back to 2027. It now says it expects to begin production at the first fab in 2030 or 2031, and construction of the second fab is expected to complete in 2031 for operations starting in 2032.

Rumors continue to swirl regarding the future of Intel Corp., after the company has been beleaguered by financial woes. The latest has Intel delaying its New Albany, Ohio, semiconductor fabs even further to perhaps even next decade.
