Gabriel’s Heisman slogan introducing his segment said “Football Ohana,” continuing to reference his heritage.During a short film that detailed Gabriel’s journey from UCF, to Oklahoma, to Oregon, Gabriel’s request to former Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota was highlighted.

Gabriel’s 3rd place finish is the fifth time that an Oregon Duck has finished in the top five of the Heisman Trophy voting. QB Joey Harrington finished in 4th place in 2001; RB LaMichael James finished 3rd in 2010; QB Bo Nix finished 3rd in 2023, and of course, QB Marcus Mariota won the Heisman Trophy in 2014.

Dillon Gabriel joined an elite group of Oregon Ducks football players this week as a finalist for the Heisman Trophy. Five players have made the trip to New York for the ceremony, and Marcus Mariota stands alone as the only Duck to take home the coveted trophy recognizing the top player in college football.
