MARTIN COUNTY — A $45 million deal was struck Tuesday for a Brightline train station in downtown Stuart, just months after city commissioners there rescinded a similar deal. County commissioners approved it unanimously at a packed County Commission meeting, with about an equal number of supporters and detractors in the audience.

Getting a Brightline station on the Treasure Coast could be back on track. Martin County commissioners are set to have a public discussion Tuesday.

After a more than two-hour discussion today, Commissioners voted unanimously to build a train station in the downtown Stuart area.

The Martin County Board of County Commissioners meets Tuesday morning.According to the agenda, commissioners are set to vote on a proposal by Brightline to build a station in Stuart. The meeting comes after the City of Stuart pulled out of an agreement for a station,

A Brightline train station is still a possibility on the Treasure Coast. After the city of Stuart voted against it, Brightline went to the Martin County Commission. It could be the light at the end of the tunnel for Brightline and downtown Stuart as the Martin County Commission votes on a train station Tuesday.
