"SB 68 will curb lawsuit abuse while protecting families, small businesses and Georgia's medical community," said Georgia Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Chris Clark in a prepared statement. "Passing [the bill] is one of the most significant steps taken to protect Georgia’s economic competitiveness."

Kemp insists the bill will help stop frivolous lawsuits and stabilize the insurance market. This bill passed despite a last push by Democrats and trial lawyers around Georgia. They insist this will prevent people from filing lawsuits.

The Georgia House voted Thursday to pass a tort reform bill, Gov. Brian Kemp’s signature legislation this session, sending it to his desk for approval. The bill would overhaul Georgia’s civil litigation system. The bill already received approval from the Senate, and it passed a House committee vote Tuesday along party lines.
