The Chicago City Council is set to meet Monday afternoon and is expected to vote on the latest version of Mayor Brandon Johnson’s 2025 budget proposal.

Mayor Brandon Johnson and the Chicago City Council still don’t have a budget agreement. Reports surfaced early Friday that the mayor did not have enough votes to pass a budget, which included more than $230 million dollars in higher taxes and fees.

After several delays, a chaotic meeting Friday and several controversial proposals, Chicago's City Council is expected to vote on the latest budget at a meeting Monday.

Mayor Brandon Johnson called a special meeting of the Chicago City Council for Monday to finalize a 2025 budget before the end-of-the-year deadline, but he still doesn't have the votes to push it through.
