TikTok has publicly thanked Trump for the extension, calling it a "strong stand for the First Amendment and against arbitrary censorship" and said it plans to work with the President-elect to find a "long-term solution that keeps TikTok in the United States."

Americans are going to lose access to TikTok in less than a week, unless China green-lights a sale to what Congress has deemed a non-adversary of the United States — something China is unlikely to do but might.

The US Supreme Court on Friday rejected an appeal from TikTok to overturn a federal law effectively banning the social media platform. The ban would penalize major companies for offering TikTok in their app stores.
