Xbox exec Jason Ronald was recently named the 'VP of next-generation' over at Microsoft, with the Xbox Series X|S architect now spearheading the team's next-gen console plans. Given his new job title, then, it's probably good news that Ronald seems to think that Xbox consoles are here to stay.

What this entails is an expansion of in-person repair options for the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, by way of a partnership with uBreakFix by Asurion and it's nearly 700 participating store locations spread out across the United States.

Xbox console repairs generally aren’t something most owners can do on their own and while there are options out there for a fix, now there’s going to be one more. Today, Microsoft officially announced that it’s partnering with uBreakiFix to handle console repairs.

Microsoft will soon let you get in-person repairs for Xbox Series X / S consoles at uBreakiFix stores, the company announced today. Microsoft already offers in-person Xbox repairs at Microsoft retail stores,

Microsoft is finally making Xbox console repairs more accessible. You’ll be able to take your Xbox Series X or S to “nearly 700” uBreakiFix locations for in-person repairs or buy some replacement parts yourself.

Console repairs have always been a hit-and-miss sort of thing; just ask anyone who got hit by the dreaded Red Ring of Death during the Xbox 360 days. Fortunately, Microsoft and iF
