Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Kuwait on 21-22 December 2024, at the invitation of His Highness Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Amir of the State of Kuwait. This will be the first visit of an Indian Prime Minister to Kuwait in 43 years.

Modi’s visit to the West Asian country caps a year of overseas visits that began with UAE & Qatar in February this year. Indira Gandhi was the last Indian PM to visit Kuwait 43 years ago.

The invitation extended by Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Amir of Kuwait, reflects the growing importance of the India-Kuwait relationship and sets the stage for broadening cooperation across multiple sectors.

PM Modi will visit Kuwait on December 21. During his two-day-visit, the Prime Minister will hold discussions with the leadership of Kuwait. Prime Minister will also interact with the Indian community in Kuwait.

Former vice president Hamid Ansari travelled to Kuwait in 2009. The last high-level visit from either side was that of the Kuwaiti prime minister to India in 2013.
