One of the hottest names on the trade market currently is that of Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler, who played for the Timberwolves in 2018, and the team was recently linked to the star in trade talks once again–but not in the way you might think.

Could the Timberwolves be involved in a Jimmy Butler trade? It's a possibility, according to NBA insider Marc Stein. But the key thing to note is that if it happens, Minnesota wouldn't be the team landing Butler, who has requested to be traded by the Miami Heat ahead of the Feb. 6 deadline.

According to NBA reporter Marc J. Spears of ESPN, Jimmy Butler wants to be traded anywhere but to the Memphis Grizzlies.  Butler has requested a trade from the Miami Heat.  Butler has been heavily linked to the Phoenix Suns.

On Tuesday, the Suns traded their 2031 unprotected first-round pick to the Jazz in exchange for first-round picks in 2025, 2027 and 2029.
