Ancient Egyptian Golden Tongues Found in Rare Mummy Discovery
Some of the mummies discovered recently in the Ptolemaic-era tombs were found with pieces of gold shaped into the form of a human tongue. Such golden tongues have previously been found at Oxyrhynchus and other archaeological sites in Egypt, although they are relatively rare discoveries.

The ancient tomb contains about 300 mummies, the University of Barcelona said in a Dec. 16 news release. So far, archaeologists have studied 52 of these mummies dating from the Ptolemaic period, an ancient Egyptian dynasty which ruled from 305 to 30 B.C., according to Britannica.
