The NWS Newport/Morehead City NC issued a dense fog advisory at 7:05 a.m. on Monday in effect until 9 a.m. The advisory is for Northern Craven, Southern Craven, West Carteret and East Carteret as well as Pitt County.

The NWS Newport/Morehead City NC issued a weather alert at 11:56 a.m. on Monday for dense fog until 2 p.m. The alert is for East Carteret, Northern Outer Banks, Ocracoke Island and Hatteras Island.

Since Tuesday evening, most of the viewing area has picked up at least 2-5″ of snow, with the heaviest snow falling east of Highway 17 and along the coastal communities. Some areas along the Outer Banks will end up with 6-8″ of snow before the last of the snowflakes depart by late morning.
