The Detroit Red Wings have played well as of late under new head coach Todd McLellan. In fact, the Red Wings have reinserted themselves in the race for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

The Red Wings are currently red hot with seven straight wins and appear to be a likely candidate for one of the Eastern wild card spots. They are two points behind the Blue Jackets for the second wild spot and could overpass them and the cluster of teams still in the race by continuing and prolonging their hot streak with a big trade.
