The Buffalo Bills released veteran quarterback Anthony Brown close to one week after signing him to help prepare for Lamar Jackson.

The Bills are set to face Lamar Jackson again, and with Sean McDermott’s defensive unit looking to get his timing down, they’ve signed former Ravens quarterback Anthony Brown. Brown signing to the Buffalo practice squad was among two moves the Bills announced on Wednesday.

The Bills are turning to a former Ravens quarterback to prepare to face two-time Most Valuable Player Lamar Jackson.

The move comes as the Bills gear up to host the Ravens and dual-threat abilites of Lamar Jackson in the AFC Divisional round this week.

Brown is now set for his second sting with the Bills. The 26-year-old signed with Buffalo during the preseason after backup quarterback Mitch Trubisky sustained a knee injury. Brown played 31 snaps in the Bills’ preseason finale against the Carolina Panthers and was released the following day.

Brown spent part of 2022 with the Ravens, Buffalo's upcoming opponent for Sunday's divisional-round matchup. Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network relays that head coach Sean McDermott noted that they added Brown to have a mobile scout team quarterback who can throw and run, as they prepare to face Lamar Jackson.
