Quarterback Russell Wilson, who can become a free agent, wants to return for a second season with the Pittsburgh Steelers despite a season-ending five-game losing streak.

Speaking to the media Saturday after the Steelers’ 28-14 wild-card playoff loss to the Ravens, the 36-year-old quarterback — who signed a one-year deal with the team last March — expressed a desire to remain with Pittsburgh as free agency looms.

During his season-ending press conference on Tuesday, Steelers coach Mike Tomlin was asked about the team’s plans at quarterback next season. At no point did he make a strong suggestion that the franchise was intending to retain Russell Wilson as the starter.
