The Mardi Gras Indians continue to evolve with the times, yet they remain a lasting reflection of the foundation of deep cultural exchange in New Orleans. Initially, their traditions honored their Indigenous allies, but they have since transformed to include a broader celebration of the African diaspora and spirituality.

The New Orleans pop-up N8tive Grub is built around fry bread. They pop-up regularly at local breweries including Parleaux Beer Lab, Oak Street Brewery and Skeeta Hawk Brewing.

The refugees were found adrift between Cuba and Mexico Wednesday, and cruise staff helped them aboard Royal Caribbean’s Brilliance of the Seas. Royal Caribbean is providing food, water, and medical care to those in need, said VACAYA, an LGBTQ+ vacation company that was chartering the cruise ship.
