Taylor Poitier, a 6-foot-3 and 305-pound senior from Kansas City, has been granted an extra year of college eligibility. And he has decided to use it for one more season with the Wildcats. Poitier announced his intentions on Thursday night with a short post on social media.

A pair of national championship winners will also soon join the K-State football roster. Gabe Powers, a 6-foot-4 linebacker, and George Fitzpatrick, a 6-foot-6 offensive lineman, have both transferred in from Ohio State.

Coach Jerome Tang has added a mid-season transfer to the Kansas State men’s basketball roster. Tyreek Smith, a 6-foot-6 senior guard who previously played at Texas Tech and Oklahoma State and SMU and Memphis, has enrolled at K-State in time for the start of the spring semester.

Peterson, meanwhile, gives Kansas 52 signees who have earned the McDonald’s honor, starting with Darnell Valentine in 1977. Current Jayhawks Elmarko Jackson (2023) and Flory Bidunga (2024) were named McDonald’s All-Americans.
