Michigan State University students are working on a new type of concrete aimed at helping the pothole problem in Michigan.

Michigan State’s win ensured the rivals split a home-and-home series this weekend after Michigan won 3-2 in overtime Friday. The teams combined for 21 penalties in a chippy, heated rivalry game.

Isaac Howard and David Gucciardi scored two goals apiece as MSU scored four goals in both the second and third periods to roll past Minnesota.

Theryn Hallock led the way with 17 points, Julia Ayrault scored 16, Jocelyn Tate 15 and Grace VanSlooten 10. MSU, which is ranked No. 12 in the USA Today Coaches Poll, is coming off a 90-85 victory over Penn State on Jan. 15 in East Lansing. Illinois (13-4, 5-2 Big Ten) is ranked No. 20 in the Coaches Poll and is coming off a 94-69 win over Indiana in its most recent game on Jan. 11.
