A solemn and heartfelt ceremony unfolded at the Cedarville Cemetery Saturday as the community gathered to honor fallen veterans through the annual Wreaths Across America event. Despite chilly weather,

Wreaths Across America was celebrated locally Saturday, as 1,763 wreaths were placed throughout Greenlawn Memory Gardens.

Wreaths Across America Day was honored at the Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery at Parkers Crossroads in Wildersville. The service began at noon with a short ceremony in the chapel, followed by volunteers, individuals, and others laying more than 670 wreaths upon veterans graves.

To honor fallen veterans during the holidays, a number of companies regularly partner with Wreaths Across America to deliver wreaths for placement on headstones. Among them are BNSF Railway and J.B. Hunt Transport Services.

The Wreaths Across America program remembers fallen U.S. veterans, honors those who serve and teaches children the value of freedom.

The National Wreaths Across America Day took place at over 4,900 locations nationwide, including here in the Miami Valley, according to a social media post. People came out to lay wreaths on the headstones of veterans at the Dayton National Cemetery in Montgomery.

As many as 2 million wreaths were placed on veterans’ graves across the nation on Saturday as part of Wreaths Across America, which works to remember fallen veterans by placing wreaths on their graves during the holidays.
