The Spokane St Swing Bridge has partially reopened for cyclists and pedestrians following repairs from a car crash.

A suspected DUI crash caused damage to a barrier and the bridge's mechanics, shutting down a key alternate route to West Seattle for at least one day.

The Spokane Street Low Bridge remains closed days after a car crashed into its guardrail on Saturday afternoon.

The transportation department says cars and trucks should follow the detour route and use the West Seattle High-Rise bridge to travel across the Duwamish Waterway. Harbor Island can still be accessed from the east via South Spokane Street coming from Seattle’s SODO neighborhood.

The Spokane Street Swing Bridge will remain closed for several more days as crews work to replace a gate that was seriously damaged in a crash on Saturday.

The Spokane Street bridge to West Seattle is now open for ships and is accessible to bicyclists and pedestrians, but remains closed to cars and trucks.
